India Young Professionals Scheme Visa

UK Ballot Based Work Visa for Indian Citizens

The India Young Professionals Scheme is a temporary UK work visa available only to Indian citizens through a limited ballot system operated by the UK Home Office.

This is not an open application visa. Applicants must first be selected in a ballot before applying. Missing timelines or applying incorrectly results in permanent loss of opportunity for that year.

Visa Aid provides accurate, up to date guidance to help applicants avoid disqualification.

What This Visa Allows

If granted, this visa allows you to:

  • Live in the UK for up to 2 years
    • Work in most jobs without sponsorship
    • Change employers freely
    • Study alongside work
    • Enter and leave the UK multiple times

This visa does not lead directly to settlement and cannot be extended.

Who Can Apply

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are an Indian citizen
    • Are aged between 18 and 30 at the time of application
    • Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification
    • Meet the English language requirement
    • Have sufficient funds to support yourself
    • Are selected in the official UK ballot

Failing any one requirement means refusal.

The Ballot System Explained

This visa operates through a UK Home Office ballot:

  • Ballots open only at specific times
    • Places are capped annually
    • Selection is random
    • Selection does not guarantee visa approval

Many applicants misunderstand this and apply too late or incorrectly.

What This Visa Does NOT Allow

This visa does not allow you to:

  • Extend beyond 2 years
    • Switch directly to settlement
    • Bring dependants
    • Access public funds
    • Apply without ballot selection

Visa Aid does not submit applications that breach these limits.

Application Process After Ballot Selection

Once selected, the process includes:

  • Online visa application
    • Uploading qualification and identity documents
    • Proof of funds
    • Payment of visa fee and health surcharge
    • Biometrics appointment
    • UKVI decision

Deadlines are strict. Missing them voids the application.

Common Reasons Applications Fail

Most refusals or disqualifications happen because applicants:

  • Miss ballot deadlines
    • Apply outside eligibility age
    • Submit incorrect qualifications
    • Fail the English requirement
    • Do not understand switching restrictions

This is a high risk visa if self applied.

How Visa Aid Helps

Visa Aid provides:

  • Eligibility confirmation before ballot
    • Ballot timing alerts
    • Document readiness checks
    • Post grant switching strategy advice
    • Risk assessment for long term UK plans

We do not encourage unrealistic applications.

Speak to Visa Aid Before Entering the Ballot

This visa is limited and unforgiving.
One mistake means waiting another year or losing eligibility permanently.

If you are serious about the UK, do not rely on guesswork.
