UK Startup Visa
Closed Route – Updated Guidance from Visa Aid
The UK Startup Visa is no longer open to new applications. This route was officially closed by the UK Home Office and has been replaced by the Innovator Founder Visa.
Visa Aid provides up-to-date, accurate guidance so applicants do not rely on outdated visa information.
About the Former Startup Visa
The Startup Visa previously allowed early-stage entrepreneurs to develop innovative business ideas in the UK with endorsement from an approved body.
This route:
• Is closed to new applicants
• Does not accept fresh applications
• Exists only as a legacy reference
• Should not be used for current planning
Any website promoting the Startup Visa as active is outdated.
What Replaced the Startup Visa
Innovator Founder Visa (Current Route)
The Innovator Founder Visa is now the only UK entrepreneur visa for new founders.
It is suitable if you:
• Have a genuine, innovative, and scalable business idea
• Can secure endorsement from an approved UK endorsing body
• Intend to actively run the business in the UK
• Meet English language and financial requirements
This visa offers a clear pathway to settlement, unlike the old Startup route.
Do Not Apply Under Closed Routes
Applying under a closed or incorrect visa category can result in:
• Immediate refusal
• Loss of application fees
• Damage to future UK visa prospects
Visa Aid does not submit applications under discontinued routes.
