What are the Subclass 485 visa streams?

Subclass 485 has two main streams:

  • Graduate Work Stream

Post-Study Work Stream:

The Post-Study Work Stream is for international graduates who completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Australia. This stream allows graduates to gain Australian work experience and build PR pathways.

How do I meet the requirements for the Graduate Work Stream?

To qualify for the Graduate Work Stream, you must:

  • Nominate an occupation from the MLTSSL

  • Hold a suitable qualification

How do I become eligible for a Post Study Work Stream, or PSWV?

To be eligible for the Post-Study Work Stream, applicants must have completed at least two academic years of study in Australia at Bachelor, Master’s, or Doctoral level.

What is the duration of validity for a temporary graduate visa?
  • Bachelor: up to 2 years

  • Master by coursework: up to 3 years

  • Master by research: up to 3 years

Skills Assessment

Some occupations require a formal skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority before applying for Subclass 485.

  • Before submitting your application, you must make an application to the appropriate assessing authority to get a good skills evaluation.

  • Even if you are currently registered to practise nursing in an Australian state or territory, you must receive a skills assessment from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) if nursing is your nominated occupation.

Requirements for the Graduate Work Stream
